The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is the trade group that represents the recording industry in the United States. Beginning in 1958, the RIAA has issued Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum and Diamond Awards to bands as well as individuals who have reached a high volume of records sales. The first recipient was Perry Como, who received on March 14, 1958 for his hit song, “Catch a Falling Star.” Since RIAA record awards were only given to “insiders” and could not just be ordered by anybody, they have become the Crown Jewel of music memorabilia. Given that most of these insiders kept the awards for their own personal collection makes them a rare find. Not only is the award itself important, but who it is presented to is just as pertinent. Many of the awards offered by The Pop Culture Vault have come from The Larry Douglas Collection, however from time to time, PCV obtains awards from others in the market place. |

The Pop Culture Vault offers an impressive array of original RIAA Awards, including those presented for the achievements by The Beatles, John Lennon, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan and many others. These are original RIAA music awards. They have been framed with additional memorabilia to make them more visually appealing. |
